Is Sora 2 the Future of Dealership Videos?
AI can now turn text into cinematic car footage, but is it ready for the real world?

What I Tested
You’ve probably seen those viral AI videos where Jake Paul appears in random scenes doing impossible things. It’s wild—and it’s only the beginning.
AI video generation is evolving faster than any editing app ever has, and OpenAI’s new Sora 2 wants to lead the race. But the real question for us is: can this kind of tech actually help car dealers or is it just entertainment for now?
I ran a few prompts through Sora 2 to see how it could handle dealership style content. The results were visually interesting but far from production-ready.
Test Prompts You Can Try:
1️⃣ “A silver 2020 Honda Accord Sport parked in a sunny Florida lot, camera slowly circles the car, showroom text overlay: ‘Low Miles. One Owner.’”
2️⃣ “A busy used-car dealership in West Palm Beach during sunset, customers test-driving cars, happy staff shaking hands.”
3️⃣ “A red Ford F-150 driving past palm trees with bold text: ‘New Arrival—Financing Available.’”
The videos look slick, but they’re more eye candy than useful content. They work fine as quick B-roll or meme-style posts—but not for real inventory or promo videos. The realism just isn’t there.
That said, Sora 2 does open the door for faster creative ideas and quick content testing, if you know how to use it right.

🚧 The Limitations of Sora 2
Even with its latest upgrade, Sora 2 still has major restrictions dealers should understand before using it commercially.
1️⃣ Access
Sora 2 is available through ChatGPT Pro or Sora’s beta site (select accounts only).
Free users: up to 15-second videos.
Pro users: up to 25 seconds.
Resolution: varies—some clips export in 720p, others reach 1080p depending on prompt complexity.
Watermark on every video.
There’s no inventory integration or dealer specific workflow yet. You’ll still need to manually upload vehicles and specs.
2️⃣ Guidelines and Restrictions
OpenAI’s policy bars users from reproducing real people or likenesses without consent.
That means you can’t create cameos of celebrities, influencers, or even your own sales team unless they approve.
Commercial promotion is also limited: you can use Sora 2 for marketing clips, but not for deceptive or misleading representations. For example, showing a pristine background or a modified car that doesn’t exist on your lot.
3️⃣ Why It’s Still More of a Gimmick
Sora 2 creates beautiful clips—but they’re closer to AI concept art than dealership content.
They might help your videos go viral on Instagram or TikTok, but they won’t replace real footage or sell your dealer more cars.
Cars often have small visual glitches or proportions that feel “off.”
Reflections, brand logos, and lot details are often inaccurate.
No consistency between videos. Even if you add a background of your dealer Sora tends to add in its own details to the scene and it changes between different videos. Even with the same script.
You can only upload one image as a reference to generate video and you can not upload videos.
Hallucinations between shots. I found a Mini Cooper that looked like a Cyber Truck.
Sora 2 is great for attention, but not for authenticity.

✅ How to Use It Safely
Use it for B-Roll. Upload a picture of the dealer and add a prompt “Use the image as background. Add a happy couple shaking hands with a car salesman.
Meme videos with prompt: Upload a picture of the dealer and add a prompt “Use the image as background. Add a happy couple shaking hands with a car salesman.
Avoid unrealistic backdrops, if you’re in South Florida, skip snowy mountains or cityscapes that don’t match your area.
Don’t use it for Car Walk arounds or to show available vehicles. This can lead to misrepresenting cars.
Bottom Line
Sora 2 is powerful and exciting, but for now, it’s still a creative add-on, not a replacement for real dealership video production.
If used smartly, it can boost engagement and help with content brain storming, but real human creativity, storytelling, and authenticity still win customers’ trust.
Have you tested Sora 2 yet? Was it impressive, or just a gimmick? Hit reply and tell me—I might feature your results in the next issue.
