The "Big 3" Showdown: Which AI Belongs on Your Desktop?
We tested the top 3 AI tools so you don’t have to.

Which AI do I use?
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the number of AI tools out there, you aren't alone. Most people just use the one they heard of first (usually ChatGPT).
But in 2025, using the wrong AI for the job is like using a screwdriver to hammer in a nail. It works, but it’s messy.
We tested ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Claude on real dealership tasks—from handling "price shoppers" to analyzing inventory aging. Here is the unbiased breakdown of their strengths, weaknesses, and the exact prompts to use.
1. ChatGPT (by OpenAI)
Best For: Roleplaying, Sales Scripts, and "Creative" Ideas.
Think of ChatGPT as your Sales Coach. It is the best at "chatting." It understands slang, nuance, and objection handling better than the others. If you need to practice a cold call or rewrite a text message so it doesn't sound rude, this is your go-to.
The Good: It’s incredibly creative and conversational. It feels like talking to a human.
The Bad: It loves to "hallucinate" (make things up). Never ask it for specific towing capacities or residual values without double-checking. It will confidently lie to you.
Actual Dealership Use Case: Roleplaying a difficult negotiation before the customer arrives.
Try This Prompt: "I am a car salesperson. Act as a difficult customer who wants to trade in a 2018 Ford F-150 but owes $5,000 more than it's worth. I need to convince you to put money down. Let's roleplay. You start."
2. Google Gemini
Best For: Speed, Up-to-Date Info, and Integration.
Think of Gemini as your Research Assistant. Because it’s connected to Google, it has live access to the internet. If you ask it about a competitor's incentives right now, it can find them. Plus, if your dealership uses Gmail/Google Docs, you can export its answers directly to an email draft.
The Good: It doesn't have an "information cutoff." It knows what happened on the news this morning. It connects seamlessly to your Google Workspace.
The Bad: It can sometimes be a bit "robotic" in its writing style compared to ChatGPT. It sounds more like a corporate press release.
Actual Dealership Use Case: Drafting an email about a competitor comparison using current data.
Try This Prompt: "Search for the current incentives on the 2025 Toyota RAV4 and the 2025 Honda CR-V in [Your City]. Create a comparison table I can email to a customer showing why our lease offer is better."
3. Claude (by Anthropic)
Best For: Writing, Analyzing Documents, and "Sounding Human."
Think of Claude as your Compliance & F&I Expert. Claude is famous for being able to read massive amounts of text instantly. You can upload a PDF of a 20-page factory bulletin or a complex bank contract, and it can summarize it in seconds. It also writes in a much more natural, less "salesy" tone than the others.
The Good: It rarely sounds like a robot. It is excellent at summarizing long, boring documents. It is generally "safer" and less likely to say something offensive.
The Bad: It is sometimes too safe. It might refuse to answer a question if it thinks it violates a safety policy (even if it doesn't).
Actual Dealership Use Case: Summarizing OEM program rules or analyzing customer feedback.
Try This Prompt: (Upload a PDF of a new Manufacturer Incentive Program) "Summarize this document into 3 bullet points that a salesperson needs to know. Highlight any specific disqualifiers that would prevent a customer from getting the rebate."
The Cheat Sheet: Which one do I open?
If you need to... | Use this AI... | Why? |
Write a difficult email to a mad customer | Claude | It sounds the most empathetic and human. |
Roleplay a sales objection | ChatGPT | It is the best at conversational back-and-forth. |
Check specs on a competitor's car | Gemini | It has live internet access to get real-time info. |
Summarize a 30-page PDF | Claude | It handles large files better than anyone. |
Bottom line
You don't need to pay for all three.
Salespeople: Stick with the free version of ChatGPT on your phone for quick scripts.
Management or Marketing, Gemini is the winner because it can search the web for real-time rates and competitor info.
F&I or Ops, use Claude to chew through paperwork and summarize contracts.
You don't need to pay for all three—just pick the one that solves your biggest headache.
